we are also having a virtual process with authorization from a third-party/spouse to sign off on the I-9 with one of our HR staff on the phone to answer questions and walk through the process.
From Eric Haener, BASF:
The government is allowing a family member or other trusted resource to complete the verification process for section 2 of everification. BASF has instructed new hires to select a family member they trust to review the docs, take a color picture or scan and email to a central email address for our HR team.

o We are doing I-9 at a remote location since our office is closed. We are using a hotel and scheduling each person individually.
• Jose Carbia – Change Healthcare
o We've had issues with candidates' concerns showing up to a clinic that is testing for COVID-19 and concerns of exposure. We're working with legal on action plans to address.
o For I-9's, we have a virtual process with authorization from a third-party/spouse to sign off.

o Increased who is an authorized representative
o Can have a neighbor/spouse be an authorized rep even if they are not part of the company, but More liability
